A Player's Exit

Who can run a tavern without rum?

  Pennsylvania, 1764:

With the king’s tax man on the prowl for smuggled rum, Penelope Corbitt and Miles Tucker struggle to keep the drink flowing and the tavern doors open. The arrival of a traveling theater troupe seems a godsend. A play will bring back customers.

Then one of the players is found dead.

Accident or murder?

For the sake of the tavern, and the players, Miles and Penelope must find the answer so the show can go on.

Book Two of Tucker’s Crossing Mystery Series.

“This is one mystery made more twisty by the unreliability and unpredictability of the troupe. Karsten has woven a treat of a tale.” ~Julie Holmes, author of Murder in Plane Sight

“From the clatter of the kitchen to the whispers of scandal among traveling players, this is a mystery that satisfies on every level. Karsten delivers a story as richly layered as the dishes her heroine prepares.” ~Anna Dalhaimer Bartkowski, author of the Rosalind Schmidt Genealogical Mystery Series

What reviewers are saying...

Terri Karsten serves up a vivid and immersive tale where the heat of the hearth meets the tension of a village on edge. The Player’s Exit draws you into a colonial tavern where rum is scarce, tempers run high, and murder lurks just outside the firelight. From the clatter of the kitchen to the whispers of scandal among traveling players, this is a mystery that satisfies on every level. Karsten delivers a story as richly layered as the dishes her heroine prepares.~~ Anna Dalhaimer Bartkowski, author of the Rosalind Schmidt Genealogical Mystery Series
